December 2021 Shoes

   Testing:

  • Adidas Adios Adizero Pro -  Not a bad shoe.  Have to try a longer distances.  Very similar to Atreyu, but firmer.
  • Atreyu Artist - One run.  All is good.  Feels similar to Adidas Adizero Adios Pro.  Weight is not even close to the prototypes (8 oz vs 6.2 oz).  Dirt cheap at $100.
In Rotation:
  • Atreyu Artist - Need to really tighten shoes for fit.  Kinda like Adidas Adios Pro.
  • Brooks Aurora-BL - Just purchased as an alternative to the Maxroad 5.  Transitions faster.
  • CTM Ultra - Firm ride.  Alternative to cushioned shoes.
  • Nike Alphafly - Long run shoes.  Need to wear down.
  • Nike Vaporfly Next % BRS - Breaking in.
  • Nike Vaporfly Next % 2 Aqua - Close to retiring.  Feel like it has lost bounce at 120 miles.
  • Nike Vaporfly Next % 2 White/Pink - Current racing shoe.
  • Salomon Sense Ride 2 - Like this over the Pegasus.  Firmer ride.  Better for trails.
  • Saucony Endorphin Speed - Green. Current goto speed.
  • Saucony Endorphin Speed Used - Black.  Primary shoe for bad days.
  • Saucony Endorphin Speed Runshield - Use for cold days.
  • Saucony Endorphin Pro - Firmer than Vaporfly.  But not bad.  Probably won't take over 1/2 marathon.  Good for shorter races.  Will use as primary trainer for long runs.
  • Skechers Maxroad 5 - Long/Easy day shoe.  Took awhile to break in.  Wearing fast.  Seems like a lot of foam under the shoe.
Shoes "in the wings":
  • NB Rebel #2 - Will start to use more.  But probably only for track days.
  • Nike Pegasus 36 Trail - Prefer the Sense Ride 2 as it is not as squishy on the trail.
  • Reebok Run Fast Pro - Race/track only.
  • Saucony Kinvara 11- Purchased for training of 4mm.  Not as bouncy as other shoes, but not too bad.  Firm, but cushioned.
  • Saucony Freedom 3 - Liking this shoe.  Upper is a bit loose though.  Nice bounce.  Also, my 4mm training shoe.  Less of a priority right now.
  • Saucony Speed Black - Next speed.
Retired/Returned:
  • Adidas Boston 8 - Other better shoes.  Retired.
  • Asics Novablast - Gave away.
  • NB TC - Too heavy and thick compared to Speed. Retired.
  • Nike Alpha black - Sold.
  • Saucony Endorphin Speed - NYC version.  Retired.
Thinking About:
  • Asics Metaspeed Edge - Pass.  Reviews aren't very positive.
  • Asics Metaspeed Sky - Pass unless a good deal.
  • Hoka Rocket X - Pass, not as "bouncy" as RC Elite 2.
  • Puma Deviate Nitro Elite - Missed the initial release.  Pass.
  • Puma Liberate - really good reviews, but have the speed.  Will probably wait till sale.

20220206 Stryd Pod Calibration Change

So, it seemed obvious today that the pod was still off.  It seems to be reading short of the intended distance based on 7 mile circuit and initial readings on my 11 mile run today.  I feel like .20 miles short on 7 miles.  So .0286 miles off per mile.  Current calibration is 99.3.  Reset to 100.  Current calculations indicate 102.25

2024 Nov 30 race

29 - 35 degrees Merino T-shirt Merino arm warmers Vaporfly Merino wool Ininji Path Projects Tights Path Shorts Smartwool gloves and Salomon mittens. 4 huma, 4 maurten gels.  Huma was in a flask. 1 flask Started with long-sleeve, took off by 3rd mile. Switched to gloves only by 3rd mile. Took off arm warmers by 3rd mile. Didn't feel cold until mile 24.   No fueling issues except could have used a bit more fuel in mile 25.  Flask made fuel a bit short. No issues with water.  Just enough by end. Horrible after mile 14.  Cold did seem to impact me. Might have gone out just a bit fast.
