20220206 Wear and Run Notes

Long run.  35 degrees, sunny, B&A

  • merino gloves
  • merino long sleeve (lighter)
  • airnet tights with underwear and shorts
  • vaporflys with tape
  • nuwool injinji socks
  • almost too hot in sunlight, but cold enough in shade
  • took off gloves, but had to put them on in the end
  • socks were warm.  probably could have done without tape.  my guess is could use down to 30 degrees
  • could switch top to short sleeve and arm warmers
  • tights were ok.  if anything, almost too hot.  Could take down to 30 degrees.
Fueling was 2 maurten.  Took one around mile 3 and another at mile 7.5.  Also took one salt and one BCAA tablet.  Last 3.5 felt a bit better.

Didn't put chafe on underarm and was sore (forgot).  Can't miss this, even at 11 miles.  Also put on lip balm.

2020 Shoe Purchases (Rolling - January)

(1/5) Nike Pegasus 36 Trail - Have always wanted to try a trail shoe, but was pretty sure I didn't need one that could handle the technical trails in places like Colorado.  Focus on was on a hybrid shoe (road and trail), with potentially a GTX/Goretex liner.  My concern with GTX is heat.

Goals for 2019 (updated June)

Given a generally successful 2018, and the fast Marine Corps Marathon, my goals for 2019 are: Exceed 2000 training miles (on track) Qualify for the Boston Marathon (3:35:00 or less time) with a buffer of 5 minutes (3:30:00) (partially done, qualified, but buffer was only 1 minute) Target 3:25:00 Marathon for Chicago (i.e., train over summer, even if don't hit 3:30:00 in spring) (just starting) Coach for a Striders session (done) Run outside in the fall

20220206 Stryd Pod Calibration Change

So, it seemed obvious today that the pod was still off.  It seems to be reading short of the intended distance based on 7 mile circuit and initial readings on my 11 mile run today.  I feel like .20 miles short on 7 miles.  So .0286 miles off per mile.  Current calibration is 99.3.  Reset to 100.  Current calculations indicate 102.25
