Back to Blogging and Current Baseline

So, 2 years have passed and I really didn't document much.  I have now finished 3 marathons and am going to try to BQ in the next few weeks.  Current marathon goal time is 3:30:00 at 8 min/mile.  I am going to try to catch up on what has happened, but first, baseline where I am at in regards to fueling, equipment and training.

From a physical perspective, the following are current statistics for reference:
  • 137 lbs - this was my target weight for the upcoming race.  Currently ranging between 135 to 138 lbs.  Trying not to exceed 138 during taper.  Started the year (2019) at around 149 lbs.
  • Height 5 foot 4
  • Size 9 shoes
  • No significant foot issues.  Slowly reducing use of aftermarket insole.  Marathon race shoes won't use this insole (OEM in VaporFly FK).
  • Training miles in the range of 40 - 60 miles per week
PRs: (times vary based on garmin vs. actual distance numbers)
  • 1 mile PR sub 7:14 min/mile (old PR, beat by 2 mile PR)
  • 2 mile PR 6:50 min/mile
  • 5K PR 7:22 min/mile, 22:53
  • 10K PR 7:32 min/mile, 46:47
  • 10 mile PR 7:57 min/mile, 1:20:06 (hilly, rainy, likely beatable give half PR)
  • Half PR 7:59 min/mile, 1:47:31 (old PR, likely beatable given ran over)
  • Marathon PR 8:43 min/mile, 3:48:22 (likely beatable given ran 26.6)

29 - 35 degrees Merino T-shirt Merino arm warmers Vaporfly Merino wool Ininji Path Projects Tights Path Shorts Smartwool gloves and Salomon mittens. 4 huma, 4 maurten gels.  Huma was in a flask. 1 flask Started with long-sleeve, took off by 3rd mile. Switched to gloves only by 3rd mile. Took off arm warmers by 3rd mile. Didn't feel cold until mile 24.   No fueling issues except could have used a bit more fuel in mile 25.  Flask made fuel a bit short. No issues with water.  Just enough by end. Horrible after mile 14.  Cold did seem to impact me. Might have gone out just a bit fast.
