May 2022 Shoes

 Testing:

  • Adidas Adios Adizero Pro 2 -  Not a bad shoe.  Have to try a longer distances.
  • Hoka Mach 4 - Excited to try this shoe.  Finally on sale.
In Rotation:
  • Brooks Aurora-BL - Just purchased as an alternative to the Maxroad 5.  Transitions faster.
  • New Balance RC Elite 2 - Nice, soft, long distance shoe. Soft enough to use for other runs.
  • Nike Alphafly - Long run shoes.  Need to wear down.
  • Nike Vaporfly Next % 2 Aqua - Training shoe.
  • Nike Vaporfly Next % 2 White/Pink - Training shoe.
  • Nike Vaporfly Next % Volt - Race shoe.
  • Puma Deviate Nitro Elite - Nice.  Feels like lower drop than 8mm.  Not sure I can take longer distances.  My track shoe.
  • Salomon Sense Ride 2 - Like this over the Pegasus.  Firmer ride.  Better for trails.
  • Saucony Endorphin Speed - Green. Retirement age.
  • Saucony Endorphin Speed - Black old. Almost retirement age.
  • Saucony Endorphin Speed - NYC. Retirement age.
  • Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 - Blue. Starting in rotation.
  • Saucony Endorphin Pro - Firmer than Vaporfly.  But not bad.  Probably won't take over 1/2 marathon.  Good for shorter races.  Will use as primary trainer for long runs.
  • Saucony Ride 15 - First run was pretty firm.  Likely won't try again till after Boston.
Shoes "in the wings":
  • CTM Ultra - Firm ride.  Alternative to cushioned shoes.
  • Nike Pegasus 36 Trail - Prefer the Sense Ride 2 as it is not as squishy on the trail.
  • Nike Vaporfly Next % BRS - Training shoe now.  Will likely save till Fall/Dec and the temperature falls.
  • Saucony Kinvara 11- Purchased for training of 4mm.  Not as bouncy as other shoes, but not too bad.  Firm, but cushioned.
  • Saucony Freedom 3 - Liking this shoe.  Upper is a bit loose though.  Nice bounce.  Also, my 4mm training shoe.  Less of a priority right now.
  • Saucony Endorphin Speed Runshield - Use for cold days.
  • Saucony Speed Black - Next speed.
  • Saucony Speed 2 Black - Next Next speed
  • Saucony Runshield old - Waiting for winter.
  • Saucony Runshield new - Waiting for winter.
Retired/Returned:
  • Adidas Takumi Sen 8 - Bought, but returned before wearing it.  The Puma works just as well, and I already own it.
  • Altra Escalante - Retired.  Maybe hang around for fun.
  • Altra Escalante Racer - Retired.  Just too firm, and don't really like 0 drop.
  • New Balance Rebel - Retired.  Don't really care.  Have faster, bouncer shoes.
  • Reebok Energy - Retired.  Don't care about it.
  • Saucony Endorphin Speed Used - Black.  Retired.
Thinking About:
  • Going to avoid new shoes for a bit.

20220206 Stryd Pod Calibration Change

So, it seemed obvious today that the pod was still off.  It seems to be reading short of the intended distance based on 7 mile circuit and initial readings on my 11 mile run today.  I feel like .20 miles short on 7 miles.  So .0286 miles off per mile.  Current calibration is 99.3.  Reset to 100.  Current calculations indicate 102.25

2024 Nov 30 race

29 - 35 degrees Merino T-shirt Merino arm warmers Vaporfly Merino wool Ininji Path Projects Tights Path Shorts Smartwool gloves and Salomon mittens. 4 huma, 4 maurten gels.  Huma was in a flask. 1 flask Started with long-sleeve, took off by 3rd mile. Switched to gloves only by 3rd mile. Took off arm warmers by 3rd mile. Didn't feel cold until mile 24.   No fueling issues except could have used a bit more fuel in mile 25.  Flask made fuel a bit short. No issues with water.  Just enough by end. Horrible after mile 14.  Cold did seem to impact me. Might have gone out just a bit fast.
